Bill Weinberg brings two decades of open source, embedded and open systems, telecoms, and other technology experience to his role as Independent Analyst and Consultant at Linuxpundit.com. He also serves in a part-time executive capacity at Linux Phone Standards Forum (LiPS) and as the Mobile Linux Weatherman at the Linux Foundation.
Previously, at Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) he served as Senior Technology Analyst and also managed the OSDL Mobile Linux and Carrier Grade Linux Initiatives. Prior to OSDL, Bill was a founding team-member at MontaVista Software, helping to pioneer and ultimately to establish Linux as the leading platform for intelligent devices. In his extensive and varied career, Bill also worked at Lynx Real-Time Systems, Acer Computer Brazil, and Microtec Research.
Bill is well known for his writing and speaking on topics ranging from global adoption of Linux to embedded/real-time computing, from application porting & migration to licensing and standardization, and from telecom infrastructure to mobile applications. Bill is a prolific contributor to print and on-line journals including Enterprise Open Source Magazine, LinuxUser, Linux Devices and ActiveAnalysis. Bill is also a frequent speaker and panelist at, and advisor to, events like LinuxWorld Expo, Software Developer, and Informa Open Source in Mobile.
